Good to know
To make the most of your stay, it is important to come well prepared. The nearest shop is 7 km away. The roads that run through the valley can be winding and may take longer than expected. Enjoy the local markets and shops, but make sure you have the essentials for the first few days so that you can settle in comfortably and fully enjoy your stay in the mountains.
In winter, it is compulsory in certain mountain areas to equip your vehicle with winter tyres or to carry snow chains from 1 November to 31 March. Please ensure that you comply with the regulations and that your vehicle has everything necessary in case it is needed.
We are 1h45 minutes from Toulouse Airport via a quick motorway with a minimal toll charge as far as Lannemezan, and then you are enter the valley winding through the towns and villages before reaching the heart of the Louron Valley.
From Bordeaux it is approximately 3.5 hours by car using the motoroways with toll charges. We are exit 16 off the A64.
Tips for Foodies
We’ve run an award-winning deli in Scotland, cheffed in a Michelin pub in London, eaten our way through France, Portugal, India, Vietnam and Thailand and more, so it’s fair to say we like our food!
We enjoy visiting the local markets in and around the valley. They can be great fun to explore whether you are after some homegrown veg or delicious cheese made from the milk of the ewes you see grazing atop the mountains.
